Anchor Ministries was established on October 12, 2021 by God’s providence through the ministry of Midway Baptist Church. Midway was driven by a deep desire to glorify God through obedience to His Word and seeking to fulfill its mission as a community of Christ followers who make disciples, as commanded in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).
Recognizing the brokenness in our fallen world, Midway Baptist Church has been burdened by the struggle of men and women battling addiction. Scripture teaches us that sin has enslaved humanity, but through the finished work of Christ on the cross, there is redemption, renewal, and freedom for all who repent and believe in Him. God, in His grace, has called us to meet this need by pointing those caught in addiction to the truth of the Gospel—the only hope for salvation and lasting transformation.
Our commitment is firmly rooted in God’s Word, which calls us to reflect the mercy and love of Christ to “the least of these.” As Jesus Himself taught:
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’” – Matthew 25:31-40
Anchor Ministries, by God’s grace and direction, seeks to demonstrate the love of Christ and the power of the Gospel to those in addiction. It is through His strength, not ours, that lives are transformed. As Midway Baptist Church and Anchor Ministry, we affirm that it is God who changes hearts, calling His sheep to Himself (John 10:27-28) and making all things new (2 Corinthians 5:17). We labor in dependence on Him, proclaiming His Word, and trusting in the sufficiency of Christ to redeem and restore broken lives for His glory alone!
It is important for Anchor to serve and give back to community.
